Pillar Summer Movie Series

Planting a church in NOVA is hard. Where I grew up you could open a church and a certain number of curious people came to the church. This is not true in NOVA. For three years we have prayed and worked and worked and prayed to see people come to our church plant with the belief that God would allow us to introduce some of them to Jesus. Last year we tried a few nutty projects to meet folks in our community… we rented a kiosk at Potomac Mills, and we showed a Disney film on a BIG screen outside under the stars. We were amazed that nearly 300 people showed up to the movie and a handful of them visited the church. This year we are stepping the movie idea up a bit and offering a series of Disney films. Lakeridge Conference

Naethan Hendrix and I spoke at a Missions Conference today in Lake Ridge. The conference was put on by Ruth Anderson and Lake Ridge BC. This church is a great story of the difference that one person can make when their heart is ablaze for the spreading of the gospel and the glory of Jesus. Ruth has as a layperson is this church has prayed and promoted missional thinking, organized dozens of international trips, lead prayer walks, distributed literature and pushed the limits of what could ever be expected of a lay person. This is a shot of Naethan Hendrix and Chris Childers who were with me for the day. The best news of the day is that this mostly barren church has decided to both adopt a UPG from Indonesia and plant a local church in the near future. Pretty Sweet

New Home

Jennifer and I have been trying to move to Dumfries for the past several years since we have been planting the church there. Finally after looking at hundreds of properties and making offers on at least 5 we have won the bid for a home. We cant wait to dig our heals into the community!

Church Planter Road Trip

This coming weekend is going to be pretty exciting for me. I am heading out with 7 church planters on an RV road trip to Georgia. We are heading to First Baptist Church of Lyons, where my friend and mentor, Dannie Williams is pastoring a great church. This church has supported our work to the tune of somewhere around 35K over the past three years. We will be sharing with the congregation how we have been using there funds and encouraging them to continue to give to the cause. After we leave Lyons we are heading to the Evolve Church planting conference at Mt. Lake Church in Cummings GA. There will be real time blogging going on throughout the week so stay posted.RV
