Why is it up to the pastor to call visitors? or why does the pastor conduct the counseling sessions?? I know that traditionally they do that but, should a pastor assist in those things? Should the church take care of those things? What would happen if pastors started to make disciples and train them to do those things? Perhaps J. D. then the pastor could be more effective in the community personally and through his disciples.

I would say there is a need for the pastor to be engaged in his community so he can optimize his opportunites for evangelism and networking. I think it depends on the pastors spiritual gifts as to how he may want to interact with his community effectively.

What do you think? What would that look like for you?

BTW...I don't do this very well myself.
